Harlow Carr Class trip

Well I have just sat down after a very busy day at Harlow Carr gardens on our class trip.  A big thank you to all the adult helpers who came along to make our trip successful especially to Mrs Atkinson who gave up her time.  A big thank you goes out to all the boys and girls who were superbly behaved and made me and all the adults very proud of them.  We had so much fun and not nearly enough time to fit everything in.  Take a look at some of our pictures, I will be posting more very soon.

The willow tippees

Some mushrooms that we found growing at the base of a tree

We were amazed at how big these leaves were.

Reading how to make a bug hotel

The big hotel......maybe we could make one of these in out garden.

At the start before the rain set in !

Poetry olympics

Yesterday we were visited by a very special person.....that poetry bloke.  Together we made up poems and performed them.  It showed how fantastic we are at making up our own rhymes and we certainly laughed loads.

Danny and Bailey did a great job at performing one of the poems.
The poetry bloke asked Danny what he wanted to be when he
grew up and he said an "animator"......he's now known as the "Danimator" !!!!!

If you want to read some of that poetry bloke poems them use the link below to visit his website.

He has a great poem about a snail on his blog....let me know what you think about it.

Mrs Horn is looking forward to looking after the guys over the holidays !!!

Getting ready for our trip

We have been preparing for our class trip to Harlow Carr next Monday.  One of the things that we have been doing is making a leaf bag to put all of our leaves in so that we can identify the trees that are in the garden.

Modelling the leaf bag with her very useful shoulder strap !!

We are getting so excited about the trip and keeping our fingers crossed for good weather.

Purple mash

On Monday we started using a new piece of software called Purple Mash.  We kicked it all off we with a purple launch day with every class taking their turn in the ICT suite.   In year 1 we were looking at a tool that would help you to create your own mnibeast then the children were able to explore what is available on Purple Mash  The results were amazing and we got to show them in assembly that afternoon.
